JACC Looks Back: City Trip Nördlingen 2024

On 27 October 2024, a group of members from JACC took a day trip from Munich to Nördlingen, a town that inspired the manga series “Attack on Titan”.

The trip started from the Munich central station, where we met up and later took the train heading to Nördlingen.

The highlights of the trip included a walk along the historic city walls, Saint George Church with an impressive view from the top of the tower, a visit to the RiesKrater Museum Nördlingen, and a cozy lunch at the local restaurant.

I especially liked the museum visit, which tells the stories of the town and showcases meteorites, impact rocks, and fossils from Lake Riesse.

It is fun to know that the city under your feet is built in a crater. There are real meteorite fragments and rock samples in the museum, which can be observed under microscope and touched by yourself.

Moreover, there are interactives displays like 3D models and videos for experiencing the process of a meteorite impact.

It was a wonderful time for us to explore the history and culture of the town and get to catch up with fellow students from different study programs in the community.
